What is Hydrotherapy?

SmartPools® LAPS® fiber pool can create a truly invigorating and healing experience via the unique technology and system that runs our fiber pools..

This experience is gaining momentum and popularity for its various health benefits, and it is called Hydrotherapy or Aqua therapy. Hydrotherapy is a form of physiotherapy that is performed in swimming pools and jacuzzis and is used to treat a variety of muscle, joints, and blood circulation related issues. Hydrotherapy utilises hydrostatic pressure and warmer water temperatures; which is a big factor why a lot of homeowners usually opt-in to having their own jacuzzis or swim spas; not only for lounging and relaxing, but for healing and wellness as well.

HOW DOES HYDROTHERAPY WORK?

Temperature, buoyancy, and water pressure are the three main components that make Hydrotherapy effective.

It is not easy to tackle muscles and joints problems because they carry our weight at all times, even when we are tired or strained. and that's where buoyancy (or our ability to float in water) plays a big part, it relieves the pressure and tension from our bodies caused by our weight.

Additionally, hot or warm water has been proven for many years to release tension built-up on the muscles and relieve unwanted stress. It also significantly improves blood circulations and helps with feelings of pain and anxiety by increasing the production of positive endorphins.

The high-powered LAPS® (Laminar Aqua Propulsion System) system integrated within our Fiber Swimming Pools are some of the best known to the industry. The 7.5 horsepower motor, moving over 30,00 liters of water; targets the most stress-prone places on the human body, including the upper back, shoulders, and neck.

USES AND PURPOSES OF HYDROTHERAPY

Hydrotherapy has  gained a huge popularity recently because it has been proven to treat a variety of ailments such as Parkinson's Disease, Cerebral Palsy, Neuropathy, and helping patients regain their mobility having a stroke or a heart attack.

It has also been proven to be very effective in rehabilitation for patients recovering from injuries and surgeries by improving the quality and speed of the healing process.

Hydrotherapy is a type of physiotherapy that takes place in hot or warm water, unlike activities like swimming or other water-based exercises. Many physiotherapists specialize in hydrotherapy and work with patients to maximize the benefits of their exercise routines.

Hydrotherapy can significantly improve mobility and balance, similar to aquatic aerobics or other fitness methods. However, it is generally a gentler, low-impact approach that can be easily adapted to any individual's physical condition or health status.

HYDROTHERAPY COMBINED WITH OTHER WATER-BASED THERAPIES

Hydrotherapy can even merge with the benefits of other SmartCuzzi® (Jacuzzi) and LAPS® Pool (Swim Spa) therapies.

Aromatherapy

Adding fragrances and calming oils to an aromatherapy session can significantly enhance your hydrotherapy experience. These scents can help you relax after a long day or bring back fond, relaxing memories.

Reflexology

Reflexology is a technique that involves massaging the feet and legs to provide relaxation and rejuvenation. Our feet and legs support the weight of our entire body every day, so it's important to give them some attention. The SmartCuzzi® has foot jets specifically designed for this purpose.

Swimming Pool Exercise

Exercise is an essential part of living a fit and healthy life, and water-based exercises can be especially beneficial for those with joint or muscle pain. These types of exercises can improve mobility, balance, flexibility, and even prevent future injuries.
